Gorgonzola Balsamic Pear Pizza

This is one of those recipes that sounds really out there and fancy but is SO crazy simple and quick — pst… a great one to impress your friends at a dinner party or something ;) It’s simple, sweet, and savory all at the same time. For this one, I used a pre-rolled dough, but if you wanted to go all out and make your own dough, that would only be a value-add. I hope you love it!!

What You Need:

  • Pizza dough - I used Wewalka pre-rolled dough, but you could use any pre-rolled dough you please or make your own!

  • 1 pear (doesn’t have to be ripe or ready to eat - it will get soft during the baking process) sliced into thin wedges - skin on!

  • 1 cup of fresh shredded mozzarella

  • 1 tbsp (or 2-3 cloves) of minced garlic

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • A handful of gorgonzola cheese

  • A drizzle of balsamic vinegar

  • Arugula

  • Fresh cracked pepper

Make It Happen:

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 425.

  2. Roll your dough onto a pizza pan over parchment paper.

  3. Heat the butter in a skillet over medium heat and add pear slices, cooking for about 3 minutes on each side or until slightly softened.

  4. Meanwhile, drizzle the olive oil and garlic over the dough and spread evenly.

  5. Sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese evenly over the entire pizza.

  6. Add the sautéed pears in a single layer to the pizza then LIGHTLY drizzle with the balsamic vinegar in a spiral motion.

  7. Sprinkle a generous handful of the gorgonzola cheese over the entire pizza.

  8. Cook for 8-10 minutes depending on the thickness of your crust — if you chose a rising dough or made your own, it may be closer to 20 minutes (see pizza dough cooking instructions if using pre-rolled).

  9. Remove from oven and top with fresh arugula and cracked pepper.

  10. Let cool for about 5 minutes before slicing - ENJOY!!
